Top Awning
Can you help with geometry, please?
I want to fit an awning above my back door. Because of the step, the top of the door is 7'6" above the ground, but the awning needs to clear it when the door is open. Thus, the awning needs to be at least that height at some 3' from the wall. If the slope on the awning is 20 degrees, how much above the door must it be mounted to ensure clearance of the open door? If the slope is increased to 30 degrees, what increase in height will be required?
You're nice for once. People are normally pushy around here. (:
You have to use tangent. So it'd be:
feet * tan (degree) = answer
So 3 * tan 20 = 1.092 feet
3 * tan 30 = 1.732 feet
